There is a lot of talk in the wine world these days about “natural” winemaking, a term which seems to mean different

things to different people. Is it organic and/or biodynamic grape growing? The refusal to use additives and processing?

Minimal intervention in the winemaking process? It is such a confusing and, to some, a negative term, that we prefer

something more accurate to describe what we do at Ridge, and that is pre-industrial. Ridge bases grape-growing in

each vineyard on long experience with the site, while simultaneously making use of the most recent advances in

vineyard management. Pre-industrial winemaking begins with respect for the natural process that transforms fresh

grapes into wine, and the 19th-Century model of minimum intervention. When you have great vineyards that produce

high quality grapes of distinctive individual character, this is not only an environmentally and socially responsible

approach, it’s also the best way to consistently make fine wine. Paul Draper 3/2011, Monte Bello Ridge.

1)Zahir’s Famous Prime Rib, Slow roasted and basted in own juices, served Au Jus, Potato Croquette & Vegetables

2)Grilled Salmon Picatta (wild caught) finished with capers, white wine and lemon butter veggies

3)Eggplant Linguine Parmesan Grilled eggplant, Linguine, sautéed mushrooms, red onions, bell peppers, Monterey-

   Jack and Parmesan, and Marinara sauce

Tossed Green Salad (organic) with House Dressing, Bread, Coffee, and Desert.

Open Seating. Turn cell phones off, and because with wine the nose is so important, please no fragrances.


COST: WINO members $60.00 per person. Guests (prospective members) $70.00 ea. Members may bring one guest

at member price, per member. Non-members may attend their first event at member price. This event is only for ages,

21 and older, no pets. Please make checks out to WINO and mail to the above address. If your payment won`t be

received by Wednesday April 3rd, 4pm, then please call to let Bruce know. In the case of you don`t show,

you still must pay, because I still have to pay for the meals & wine ordered. You will not be contacted unless a sellout

precludes receipt of your check. There will be no refunds after the above date, unless your place can be filled.

Thank You: The San Jose Imbibers, are a fun group headed by Michael where they make different wines every year.

We enjoyed 14 of them which were all very nice with an 05 CS, 06 Merlot, 07 Zin & PS, and the rest being more

recent vintages. We had 47 WINOs there, and had a very enjoyable time. Rumor has it that Viva has closed, shucks.
